About the Lyoness
Hi, I’m the Lyoness - I am the sole blogger here at Ex-Mormon Stories. I know that the topic I chose to blog about is, to put it nicely, quite controversial, which is surprising for me since I tend to avoid arguments like most people try to avoid the bubonic plague. I don’t like arguing or fighting - growing up, my mother called me her little peacemaker.
So why did I choose to blog about life after Mormonism? Because I think there is a need on this wild and woolly internet to provide a safe haven for people who are considering leaving the LDS Church. I have read literally hundreds of stories of ex-Mormons, and there is a recurring theme in almost all of them: The person leaving thought they were alone. They thought they were the only ones who dared to question the system.
And when you are leaving the only religion you’ve ever known, and in many people’s lives, the only support system you’ve ever known, nothing is worse than to now think you are completely and utterly alone in this world. The loneliness just washes over you, and even if you are sitting in the middle of Grand Central Station during rush hour, you feel like you are the only human being on the earth, because no one has a clue of what you’re going through.
I should know - I felt all of this myself. It was one of the toughest parts of leaving the Church.
Speaking of, if you are interested in my exit story, here it is, in order:
My Life as a True-Believing Mormon
The Beginning of the End of my Belief in the LDS Church
Couldn’t Leave Well Enough Alone
The Bishop told me I was going to Hell (and other fun tidbits)
There is No God but the LDS Church is True
The Masons and the Mormons
I will be adding more as time passes.
So welcome to my site. I hope you find some comfort here in knowing that there are many other just like you who are questioning the very foundation that their lives have been built upon. If you are up for it, I would love to add your story to the collection - be sure to check out my submission page if that is something you’re interested in.
